RAM 2500 with Crew Cab

If you are shopping for a new RAM truck, there is one question you will inevitably ask yourself: double cab vs crew cab trucks? Both are very popular with drivers at Hunt Chrysler Center and deliver the same dominant RAM power. We’ll help you make the right choice for your business or family.

What’s the Difference Between Cab Types?

We’ve come a long way since the days when a standard cab with a bench seat was the only option. Now there are two more configurations in the mix.

Although it isn’t immediately clear from the names, a crew cab is larger than a double cab. Crew cabs are popular with drivers who will be bringing more friends or a larger crew along for the drive, while a double cab is perfect if you’re more focused on hauling as much as you can in your truck bed since they’re typically available with longer bed lengths.

Do I Need a Crew Cab?

Crew cabs come closer to the cabin experience of a modern two-row SUV, giving rear passengers more legroom and the added convenience of an extra side door. Going with the smaller double cab design usually means more truck bed space. However, you’ll still need to talk to your RAM dealer because more than one size may be available to both configurations (though all else being equal, double cabs usually offer the bigger options).
